To make a complete Animation:

You will need at least:

One Rigged Character to animate
Environment (optional)
Storyboard/script
Voiceover
soundtrack(optional)

Modeling

Modeling is the process of creating and building your character to exist in the 3d world. Sketch(es) or pictures of your character will be needed and any other important information.

Rigging

Rigging is the process of adding armatures/bones to an existing character so it can move or be animated in a 3d environment.

Animation

Animation is the process of making 3d characters move in a 3d world. Actions like; talking, running, walking, dancing, acting, singing, etc
